You know how there always seems to be that one kid in a family who doesn’t turn out quite right? They may stand out from the rest, exhibiting behaviors or characteristics that set them apart from their siblings.

This phenomenon is a common theme explored in literature, film, and television, as it taps into the complex dynamics and challenges that can arise within a family unit.

Whether it’s a rebellious streak, a unique personality, or simply a different path in life, the presence of the “odd one out” in a family can be a source of both tension and introspection. And The Munsters is a proof?

Patricia Ann Priest is an accomplished American actress who is best known for her role as the second person to portray the character of Marilyn Munster on the beloved television series “The Munsters” (1964–1966).

Priest took over the role of Marilyn from the original actress, Beverley Owen, who departed the series after the first 13 episodes in order to get married. The character of Marilyn Munster was a running gag within the show, as she was a beautiful blonde woman who was treated as the “ugly” member of a family composed of a Frankenstein’s monster for an uncle, a vampire for an aunt, a vampire for a grandfather, and a werewolf for a cousin.

Through her portrayal of Marilyn, Patricia Ann Priest cemented her place in television history, contributing to the enduring legacy of “The Munsters” and the unique dynamic of the Munster family. Her performance as the “normal” member of the eccentric household has left a lasting impression on audiences and continues to be celebrated by fans of the iconic sitcom.

On The Munsters, it was Lily’s niece Marilyn Munster, who is pitied by her relatives because she looks so plain and un-grotesque. In fact, Marilyn is a gorgeous young woman, but by the twisted logic of the Munster household she’s a freak. Marilyn was first played by Beverley Owen, but Pat Priest, seen here posing with the Munster Koach, took over the role beginning with the 14th episode of the first season. Did the Munsters even notice the change in their leggy blonde niece? Perhaps not, seeing as both Beverley and Pat were so unattractive and hard to look at.
