Marine Whose Mother Thought He was Dead Returns Home…

Internet Buzz

This video has the internet buzzing for several reasons: is it real? Why hasn’t his mother seen him in seven years? Why didn’t he contact her if he was alive? Watching it, I feel happy for this mother and son. I’ll leave it to others to figure out its authenticity.

The Viral Clip

This short clip surfaced recently on Instagram and TikTok, posted by @mineyprinceyzhakkyloven, who hasn’t responded to requests to verify its authenticity, making it suspect. In the clip, a U.S. Marine in dress blues arrives at a front door with superimposed text telling the story: his mother thought he died and hasn’t seen him in seven years.

Possible Explanations

All of the questions might have valid answers. The video doesn’t say she thought he died seven years ago, just that he hasn’t seen her in seven years. Maybe she received word shortly before the video that he had died but he’d been gone a long time before that.

Embracing the Positivity

I’m sharing this clip because I want to believe it might be true and because of its caption, “Have you ever been this happy?” We should consider why it takes thinking your child was dead to be that happy. Why not rejoice in them every day, knowing one day at least one of you won’t be around anymore?

Focus on What’s Important

Rather than get into the internet debate about the clip’s authenticity, I like it for the possibility it represents and the reminder of what’s truly important. Watch the video below and leave a Facebook comment to let us know what you thought!
