A legendary figure was spotted out and about recently. Iconic Hollywood actress Shirley MacLaine, who is now 90 years old, made a rare public appearance in Malibu, California on Sunday. The legendary star was seen having lunch at the local Kristy’s Village Cafe, which she had also visited on the Fourth of July holiday.
For her outing, MacLaine opted for a casual yet stylish ensemble. She wore a blue button-up shirt paired with a black zip-up jacket, black pants, and bright red shoes. The actress also accessorized with a pair of glasses and carried a small black purse with her.
MacLaine’s sighting marks a relatively infrequent public outing for the revered performer. At 90 years old, the Hollywood icon has largely stepped back from the spotlight in recent years, making her Malibu cafe visits all the more noteworthy for her fans and the local community.
MacLaine wore a blue shirt with a zip-up jacket, black pants and red shoes. She also sported glasses and carried a small black purse. A younger man accompanying MacLaine let the actress hold onto his arm as they walked outside.
MacLaine went to the same restaurant with a friend for lunch earlier this month. The “Steel Magnolias” star wore a purple T-shirt, a black hoodie sweatshirt, gray pants and a light blue visor that day.
MacLaine turned 90 on April 24. She told People at the time that she was celebrating her milestone birthday with an intimate dinner with friends.
“We’re getting together and I hope to eat something good,” she said.
One month earlier, MacLaine opened up about how Hollywood has changed in an interview with Extra’s Billy Bush.
“The glamour’s gone out of it, I’m afraid. I think it’s entirely different,” she said. “It’s 100% different.”
When asked if she’s bothered about the lack of privacy that famous people have today, MacLaine said, “It’s all right. I’m kind of open anyway and I don’t have much to hide.”
MacLaine’s most recent movie was the 2022 dark comedy “American Dreamer.” The film followed MacLaine as a lonely widow trying to decide if she should sell her estate to a professor, played by “Game of Thrones” alum Peter Dinklage.
In an interview with The Post, MacLaine said she thought the script for the film “was an interesting take on reality.” She also said that she wanted to work with Dinklage, 55.
The Oscar winner, who won Best Actress for the 1983 comedy drama “Terms of Endearment,” revealed that after shooting “American Dreamer,” she sheltered in place by herself due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I came to the mountains in New Mexico and I just, I really practically didn’t see anybody for a year [due to the COVID-19 pandemic] and that was an interesting experience,” she said. “I did realize when I started talking to myself, I thought, well I better go out and wear a mask.
“I think it’s good being in touch with what many of us had been losing,” she added. “A sense of who we basically and centrally are, even with all of what goes on in our businesses and social life.”
