Breakdancing debuted at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Breakdancing made its debut at the Paris 2024 Olympics, marking a significant milestone for the sport. As one of the competitors, Raygun had high hopes of showcasing his skills on this grand stage. However, things did not go as planned.

Breakdancer Rayun gained no points for her performance at Olympics

Gunn, a university lecturer from Sydney, made her Olympic debut in the first-ever breakdancing events at this year’s Games.

Gunn represented Australia at the World Championships in 2021 and 2022.

However, her performance at the 2024 Olympics failed to impress the judges, scoring no points.

However, Gunn remained confident in her abilities, stating: “All my moves are original. Creativity is really important to me.

I go out there and I show my artistry.

Sometimes, it speaks to the judges, and sometimes, it doesn’t.

I do my thing and it represents art. That is what it is about.”

Ryan’s zero-point performance has gone viral

Unfortunately, Gunn’s performance became the subject of countless memes and videos on social media.

This left the World DanceSport Federation extremely concerned.

Sergey Nifontov, the federation’s general secretary, admitted he was “worried” by the response Gunn’s routine had received online.

He said: “That should not happen in our world. Something is going in the wrong direction.”

In response, the federation responded by reaching out to Gunn and the Australian Olympic team.

They offered the breakdancer mental health support from their safeguarding officer.

Nifontov stated: “We are aware of what has happened, especially on social media.

Definitely, we should put the safety of the athlete, in this case, mental safety in the first place.

She has us as a federation supporting her.”

Meanwhile, the head judge of the breakdancing competition, Martin Gilian, defended Gunn’s performance.

In an interview, he said: “Breaking is all about originality and bringing something new to the table and representing your country or region.

This is exactly what Raygun was doing.

She got inspired by her surroundings, which in this case, for example, was a kangaroo.

She created some original moves that could be maybe funny or entertaining for others.

But for us, she represented breaking and hip hop.

She was trying to be original and bring something new to the table. From our perspective, that was nothing really shocking.”

Social media reactions

Raygun’s breaking dance performance has gone viral and sparked a heated debate on social media.

Fair f**king play to her. She went out and she gave her all, one user said.

In complete honesty, I enjoyed her performance so much.

Yes, I laughed, but it made me so happy to watch lol, the second user commented.

Single-handedly got break dancing removed the the Olympics, the third user said.

She may have done a parody, who knows?

This is not even a sport, but a dance, and should not be in the Olympics.

Fortunately, it was the only edition, another expressed.

She had to know that she would be on tv and the internet basically all over the world. Hopefully, she learns from this, someone commented.
