14-Year-Old Boy Tragically Dies

The tragic death of 14-year-old Knox MacEwen during a 5K race at Everglades High School in Florida has left the community in mourning. Despite prompt emergency response, MacEwen went into cardiac arrest and could not be revived, devastating his family, school, and wider community.

A student at Western High School in Davie, MacEwen was actively involved in Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) activities. His passing was announced by Western High Principal Jimmy Arrojo, who offered heartfelt condolences to MacEwen’s family, friends, teachers, and classmates. Grief counselors were made available on campus to support those affected by the tragedy.

MacEwen’s pastor described him as deeply loved, embodying qualities of love, compassion, and humor. His sudden death has shocked the community, prompting investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident. As the community grieves, they come together to support MacEwen’s family and friends during this difficult time, remembering the impact he had on those around him.


One of the family friends of Knox Mcewen said on the unexpected demise “Knox was a kindhearted soul, an animal lover, and has been a quiet protector of his sweet Mama who’s been recovering from a mean battle with cancer. Knox was a gift to all who knew him.” Moreover, Mewen used to be in touch with a church, and members of the church built a fundraising site with prayers and heartfelt condolences.
